2021, στο μυαλό όλων των Ελλήνων αλλά και των φίλων της ιστορίας στριφογυρίζουν αυτά τα τελευταία δύο ψηφία, συνδυασμένα με δύο αιώνες πίσω. Όταν ξεκίνησε στις 25 Μαρτίου του 1821 ο αγώνας που οδήγησε στην απελευθέρωση της Ελλάδος έπειτα από τέσσερεις αιώνες υποδούλωσης.

Σε αυτήν την πανσέληνο του Μάρτη, ταξιδεύουμε στα λιμάνια της Κωνσταντινούπολης και Σμύρνης την πρώτη δεκαετία του εικοστού αιώνα. Τότε που η αξεπέραστη Ελληνική Εστουδιαντίνα, μια μουσική ομάδα - ορχήστρα επίλεκτων μουσικών της Πόλης και της Σμύρνης μεγαλούργησε και έκανε το γύρο του κόσμου κατά το χρονικό διάστημα 1898 – 1921.

Αυτή η μουσική γέφυρα, μέχρι και το σημείο της μετανάστευσης μουσικών και εκ νέου ηχογραφήσεων κυρίως στην Αμερική, βοήθησε στην αρμονική ένωση και συνδυασμό των πολιτιστικών, εθνολογικών και κοινωνικών κόσμων, στο γεωγραφικό σημείο της ένωσης δυο πολιτισμών κι εθνών.

Χαραγμένα στις πλευρές δίσκων γραμμοφώνου των 78 στροφών αυτά τα 12 τραγούδια (κι ένα παραπάνω "κρυμμένο"), με όλη τη φθορά του χρόνου από τα 110 χρόνια ύπαρξής τους, φέρνουν μαζί σ' αυτήν την ταχύτατη εποχή της ψηφιακής τεχνολογίας, λίγη αρμύρα από τη Σμύρνη και μυρωδιές απ' τις αγορές της Κωνσταντινούπολης.

Οπερέτα, ρεμπέτικο, αμανέδες και καντάδες, αναμεμειγμένα με μαεστρία από την Ελληνική Εστουδιαντίνα, ξεπέρασαν τα χτυπήματα πολέμων, ξεριζωμών και λήθης κι είναι εδώ για το καλύτερο ταξίδι της θύμησης και της γνώσης.

2021, in the minds of all Greeks but also the friends of Greek and global history, these last two digits are spinning, combined with two centuries ago. When the struggle that led to the liberation of Greece after four centuries of enslavement began on March 25, 1821.

On this full moon of March, we travel to the ports of Constantinople (Istanbul) and Smyrna (Izmir) in the first decade of the twentieth century. When the unsurpassed Estudiantina Grecque (Greek Estudiantina), a music group - orchestra of selected musicians from Constantinople and Smyrna performed splendidly and toured parts of world during the period 1898 - 1921.

This musical bridge, up to the point of migration of Greek musicians and new renditions of the famous folk songs that took place mainly to America, helped in the harmonious union and combination of cultural, ethnological and social communities, in the geographical point of union of two cultures and nations (Greece and Turkey).

Engraved on the sides of the 78 rpm gramophone shellac records, these 12 songs (and one "hidden" bonus), with all the wear and tear of time from their 110 years of existence, bring together in this fast-paced era of digital technology, a little salt from the seaside of Smyrna and smells from the food markets of Constantinople.

Operetta, rebetiko, amanedes (laments) and cantatas, mixed with mastery by the Estudiantina Grecque (Greek Estudiantina) overcame wars, migration and oblivion and are here for the best journey of memory and knowledge.
