The Nymphs were ideal and beautiful female figures of divine origin, young in age, living in the wild nature, wandering in the mountains and accompanying the goddess Artemis. They sang and danced with the god Pan in the meadows and on the slopes, usually near the sources of the rivers. They praised the Olympian Gods with their sweet voices and especially Pan's father, Hermes. They were worshiped as elements of fresh water, springs and rivers.

Depending on the place they live, the Nymphs are divided to three species: Naiades (of rivers, springs and caves), Orestiades (of mountains) and Dryades - Amadryades or Melies (of solitary trees and meadows). The Nymphs, when it rains, rejoice, because they feed the trees and cry, when the deciduous trees lose their leaves. They were feeders of many gods and heroes. They took care of their upbringing, breastfed them and were the substitutes of their mothers. The god Zeus himself was raised by them in the island of Crete.

They had healing abilities as well as the gift of predicting-prophesying the future. Their actions was not always beneficial to mankind. In case a mortal happened to see a Nymph naked while bathing in the spring, he lost his mind. They were able to confuse mortals and drive them crazy. There are countless myths about their love affairs and it is always considered dangerous to encounter them!

The 1968 film "Anonymous Nymphs" deals with the erotic insatiable appetite of a group of women who indulge in everything in their path. Directed by Manuel S. Conde, the protagonists are referred to by their first names "Elena", "Natasha" and "Gordon", while the musical soundtrack belongs to the (anonymous) group called "The Sense of Humor". The film is in public domain. All titles are original Greek names of Nymphs from the ancient times.

Οι Νύμφες ήταν ιδεατές και πανέμορφες γυναικείες μορφές θεϊκής καταγωγής, νεαρές στην ηλικία, ζούσαν μέσα στην άγρια φύση, τριγύριζαν στα βουνά και συνόδευαν τη θεά Άρτεμη παίζοντας μαζί της. Τραγουδούσαν και χόρευαν μαζί με τον θεό Πάνα στα λιβάδια και στις πλαγιές, συνήθως κοντά στις πηγές των ποταμών. Υμνούσαν με τις γλυκιές φωνές τους Ολύμπιους Θεούς και ιδιαίτερα τον πατέρα του Πάνα, τον Ερμή. Λατρεύονταν ως στοιχεία του γλυκού νερού, των πηγών και των ποταμών.

Οι Νύμφες είναι ανάλογα με τον τόπο κατοικία τους τριών ειδών: Ναϊάδες (των ποταμών, των πηγών και των σπηλιών), Ορεστιάδες (των βουνών) και Δρυάδες - Αμαδρυάδες ή Μελίες (των μοναχικών δέντρων και των λιβαδιών). Οι Νύμφες, όταν βρέχει, χαίρονται, γιατί τρέφονται τα δέντρα και κλαίνε, όταν τα φυλλοβόλα δέντρα χάνουν τα φύλλα τους. Ήταν τροφοί πολλών θεών και ηρώων. Αναλάμβαναν την ανατροφή τους, τους θήλαζαν και αποτελούσαν τις αντικαταστάτριες των μανάδων τους. Ο ίδιος ο θεός Δίας ανατράφηκε απ’ αυτές στην Κρήτη.

Είχαν θεραπευτικές ικανότητες, καθώς και το χάρισμα να προφητεύουν τα μελλούμενα. Η δράση τους δεν ήταν πάντοτε ευεργετική για τους θνητούς. Στην περίπτωση που κάποιος θνητός τύχαινε να δει μια Νύμφη γυμνή την ώρα που έκανε το λουτρό της μέσα στην πηγή, έχανε τα λογικά του. Ήταν ικανές να προκαλέσουν σύγχυση του νου στους θνητούς και να τους κάνουν τρελούς. Υπάρχουν αμέτρητοι μύθοι που αφορούν τις ερωτικές τους περιπέτειες και Θεωρείται πάντοτε επικίνδυνο να τις συναντήσει κανείς!

Η ταινία του 1968 με τίτλο "Νύμφες Ανώνυμες" πραγματεύεται την ερωτική ακόρεστη όρεξη μιας ομάδας γυναικών που σαγηνεύουν τα πάντα στο πέρασμά τους. Σε σκηνοθεσία του Manuel S. Conde, οι πρωταγωνίστριες αναφέρονται με τα μικρά τους ονόματα "Elena", "Natasha" και "Gordon", ενώ η μουσική επένδυση ανήκει στο (ανώνυμο) σχήμα με τον όνομα "The Sense of Humor". Η ταινία είναι σε καθεστώς δικαιωμάτων κοινής διαχείρισης (public domain). Οι τίτλοι των κομματιών είναι ονόματα των Νυμφών της αρχαιότητας.

In the series of 1tracktape 2021 releases around gender equality and the presence of women through history and art, this release features the soundtrack to a 1968 film (Nymphs Anonymous) with tracks titled as the Nymphs from the ancient days.
