Not too Wild Little Pets (3:25)

1984, Paris

Composed at SEV - Paris studio. Main processing unit was the analog modular synthi VCS3. There were three VCS3 units available and a patch bay allowing many combinations with microphones, filters and four Revox tape recorders. A custom-made (by the studio technicians) band-pass analog filter was also used. Trying to record and then imitate the filtered sounds of voices that were coming from the outside corridors through the deficient isolation of the air condition tubes initiated this sound-focused composition. The originally heard sound was naturally filtered and distorted like coming from some odd little animals moving inside the air-condition tubes. A first unsuccessful attempt was made to record these natural sounds but the signal was faint and the noise covered everything. So, new imitative sources were recorded. Micro movements and vocal-shaped waves were recorded on analog tapes then mixed, filtered and processed through the VCS3.
